Young Historians Conference. The Challenge Program and the PSU History Department hosted the 19th Annual Oregon Society for Student Historians Conference at Portland State University April 15. This was an exciting event with over 200 students attending from high schools offering PSU History courses through the Challenge Program. Schools included Clackamas, Grant, Lakeridge, Sunset, and St. Mary's Academy.

Thirty-eight of these students presented their research papers to their peers in panels organized by theme, with a Faculty Commentator providing feedback. Subjects ranged from the impact of Alan Ginsberg's Howl and a dissection of the Bhagavad Gita to Jane Adams and Hull House. Commentators will choose a best paper from their panel, from which an overall best paper will be chosen. The winning Young Historian will be announced by May 1.

The Conference is a powerful and authentic experience for students of history, celebrating their scholarship and providing a professional forum for dialog and feedback.
